Known the world over, the Pont du Gard, dominates the south east of Uzès. Some villages with beautiful beaches follow the curving banks of the river; others, such as Castillon du Gard, are situated high on the hills. Many have buildings that are constructed with the chalky stone called “Pont du Gard,” drawn from nearby quarries.
